Growing Food.

Restoring Ground.

Building Community.

Covering Ground Farm is a small, organic farm rooted in the belief that growing good food and caring for the land should go hand in hand.

We grow fresh, seasonal produce for our local community, while working to build healthier soil, support biodiversity, and leave the ground better than we found it. For us, farming is about more than what comes out of the field. It is about the relationship between healthy soil, healthy food, and a healthy community.

Why We Farm

We started Covering Ground because we believe local food can be something more than a transaction.

When you know where your food comes from—and the people who grow it—you become part of a larger cycle. Seeds become plants. Plants become food. Food brings people together. And the care we put into the land today becomes the foundation for what can grow tomorrow.

That is the kind of farm we want to build: one that feeds people, creates habitat, cares for the soil, and contributes to the place we call home.

What Does "Covering Ground" Mean?

The name comes from a simple idea: the ground matters.

Healthy soil is alive. It holds water, stores nutrients, supports countless organisms, and provides the foundation for everything we grow. We want our farming practices to protect and strengthen that living system rather than simply take from it.

To us, "covering ground" is both a farming practice and a philosophy. It means keeping soil protected, investing in the health of the land, and showing up for our community season after season.

How We Farm

Healthy Soil

We see soil as the foundation of the farm. By caring for the organisms and organic matter beneath our feet, we can grow stronger crops while building long-term fertility.

Organic Growing

We grow with organic principles at the center of our farming. We believe producing clean, nourishing food begins with responsible stewardship of the land.

Biodiversity

A healthy farm is more than rows of vegetables. We value the insects, plants, animals, and microorganisms that make an agricultural ecosystem work—and we strive to create space for them alongside our crops.

Seasonal Food

We grow with the seasons, harvesting produce when it is at its freshest and most flavorful. What you find at our farm changes throughout the year, giving our community a chance to experience the rhythm of the land.

From Our Farm to Your Table

We believe the best food has a story behind it.

You'll find Covering Ground produce at local farmers markets, through our CSA, and in the kitchens of local food businesses. Every box, basket, and bunch represents a connection between the people who grow our food and the people who eat it.

Whether you're picking up your weekly CSA box, stopping by the market, or discovering one of our products for the first time, we're grateful to have a place at your table.
